THE CARDBOARD KINGDOM
These children create elaborate maps, identities, costumes, stories, and a whole universe within their neighborhood. When the cardboard comes out, each child becomes their “true self,” whether it be an impossibly strong monster, an anti-social robot, a beautiful and terrible sorcerer, a glorious warrior, or a successful inn/pub owner. One child uses her costume persona to explore her trans identity, one child uses it to explore same-sex feelings, and others use their strengths to break out of gender, sexuality, ability, and racial stereotypes. This book is definitely for the baby roleplaying/cosplaying geek inside of every nerd!
