Charlie confronts the inconsistencies and racist tendencies of Christianity with a few trusted friends (a trans girl and a mixed-race native camp counselor) and in her own mind, where she has anxious monologues with herself and god. “What if this was all a mistake?” Charlie thinks. “No, it can’t be. You told me to be here. Please, talk to me again. Don’t go silent. Please. Please. Don’t leave me here alone.
